In 1984, Buddy Roybal founded, and managed Coronado Paint and Decorating, the largest decorating center in northern New Mexico, until his retirement in 2022. He has served as chairman of several fundraising events in Santa Fe including the Santa Fe Mayor’s Give Back Ball-2 years, Boys and Girls Clubs Mayor’s Ball-4 years, Partners In Education Ball-1 year; Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Hoe Down-1 year and July 4th Car Show On the Plaza-15 years.

Buddy currently serves on the Board of Directors of Century Bank., Santa Fe Lensic, Santa Fe Vintage Club, and is an Emeritus Member of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation Board. He has served as a member on the boards of City of Santa Fe Historic Review Board, Santa Fe Business Incubator Selection Committee. Boy & Girls Clubs, Santa Fe County Chamber of Commerce. Santa Fe County Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Santa Fe Partners in Education, Santa Fe Home Builders Association, City of Santa Fe Business & Quality of Life, Well Fargo Bank, Bank of Santa Fe and City of the Santa Fe Economic Development Review Committee.

Buddy and his wife, Irene, received the 2015 Philanthropist of the Year awarded by the Albuquerque Journal North and St Vincent’s Hospital Foundation; 2006 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Blue Ribbon Southwest Regional Award. presented by the US Speaker of House of Representative Newt Gingrich in Washington DC: 2007, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Small Business Of The Year Award nominee: 1999 The Santa Fe New Mexican 10 Who Made A Difference; 1996, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Who’s Who Business Leader; 2014 Santa Fe Rotary Club Sonny Brown Business Leader Award; 2008 UNM Anderson School of Management Ethic in Business Award nominee; 2006 Santa Fe Boys and Girls Clubs Youth Sponsor of the Year Award; 1999 Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Sam Walton Community Leadership Award; 2000 NM Secretary of State Exemplary Dedication and Service Award: 2005 City of Santa Fe Business of Year Award and 2005 Big Brother Big Sisters Mountain Region of the Year Award presented at the Kennedy Center For the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

His accomplishments have been highlighted in the Santa Fe New Mexican, New Mexico The Distant Land- An Illustrated History- published by American Historic Press, New Mexico Business Weekly, Paint and Decorating Retailer, a National Publication. The Santa Fe Sun Monthly and the Santa Fe Reporter.

Through their business and charitable foundation, Buddy and his wife are longtime financial donors to various Santa Fe nonprofits, as well as youth educational mentoring initiatives. Buddy is a native of Santa Fe, a U.S. Navy veteran, graduated from the Santa Fe Police Academy. and served as a city police officer before becoming a recognized business leader.
